Quercus aliena
Making a small deciduous tree in the UK, this species hails from China, Korea, Taiwan and Japan. Large obovate to oblong-lanceolate coarsely toothed foliage up to 20cm long, rich green above and paler beneath and closely resembling the American Quercus montana. Makes a striking specimen on account of the foliage though is very rarely encountered in UK cultivation despite being easily grown.
