Quercus crispipilis

Cultivated in the UK since 1998, this medium to large semi-evergreen species from the cloud forests of Southern Mexico and Guatemala at up to 2700m is surprisingly hardy, though is best suited away from the coldest areas or frost pockets. Reaching up to 10m tall, this bears stiff, oblong to elliptic, usually toothless foliage, dark glossy-green above and pale tomentose beneath.
