A hardy deciduous Japanese oak, forming a medium sized tree with very handsome foliage, measuring up to 23cm long on vigorous specimens, occasionally even bigger. The leaves are narrowly obovate, pointed at the apex and with many triangular, forward pointing teeth, glossy green above, pale beneath.
