Quercus x saulii ‘Arnold Laciniata’

A selection of the natural hybrid Quercus alba x montana from the USA, with deeply lobed foliage and potentially rich autumn colour with orange/red tints. Q. x saulii will lap up the heat from a warming UK climate as it is used to far more in its native environs. A medium sized very hardy deciduous oak, especially suited to the Southern half of Britain, though merely smaller growing in the cooler North. Not suited to thin chalk soils, this should make a 20m tree here in the best locations with reasonable summer warmth.
