Rhododendron auriculatum

A magnificent highly fragrant species and one of the very last to flower in July or August, forming potentially large shrubs, or even small trees over many years in favoured moist gardens. Huge trusses of richly scented large funnel-shaped white flowers over attractive fairly large elongated foliage, which can emerge deep-red. Fully hardy, even in cold gardens if sheltered. Acid soil.
