Rhododendron pachytrichum var. monosematum

Only known from the summit of Emei Shan, Sichuan, and probably originating from natural hybridisation of R. pachysanthum and R. strigillosum, which occur nearby. This makes a large evergreen rounded shrub in the UK, or even a small tree to 6m if given many years and perfect conditions, with neat dark-green foliage and rounded trusses of white to pink flowers, spotted in their throats, borne early season in April. Very hardy. For acid soil, not too dry, in sun or semi-shade. Very rarely available.
