Very rarely available, these are derived from hand pollination of this Frank Kingdon Ward introduction from SE Tibet. Forming a tree in the wild, but only a small to medium sized evergreen shrub in cultivation. Rounded trusses of bell-shaped flowers in crimson, vivid scarlet or pink are borne in April and May. Dark green leaves to 12.5cm long. For acid soil in semi-shade.
