Rhus potaninii
One of the finest small trees for brilliant red autumn colour, receiving an RHS Award of Merit for such. Pinnate leaves with leaflets toothed in juvenility, becoming entire in adulthood. Vigorous in youth and reaching about 10m at maturity. Good in most soils, acid or alkaline and perfectly hardy. Rarely flowers or fruits in the UK.
