Sorbus insignis (true) NPT 148

A Nigel Taylor collection from Nepal, this is not the closely related S. keenanii, which is what most of the few people who have this name have. One of the most striking of the Rowans, with comparatively large, bold foliage composed of broad leaflets. White flowers followed by wide flattened heads of pink-red fruit. A hardy small tree, very rarely encountered in cultivation, for no good reason. Hardy, even in very cold inland sites.
