Spiranthes bightensis ‘Chadds Ford’

'Fragrant ladies tresses' is a North American hardy orchid, growing from New Jersey to Florida and Texas and easily growable in the UK, provided a none too dry site in sun or semi-shade. White, heavily scented flowers are borne in a spiral arrangement on stems to 45cm in autumn. Sun or semi-shade. 'Chadds Ford' has particularly large flowers and was rescued from a wet ditch in the 1960's before it's habitat was destroyed. For an acidic moist to boggy site, or a pot if that's too hard to arrange. Syn. S. odorata or cernua.
