Tripterygium wilfordii NJM 11.029

A recent collection from Leigongshan, Guizhou, China, of this unusual scandent, climbing, deciduous shrub. Reaching up to 6m if allowed, this has foliage emerging coppery-red, turning green above and glaucous beneath and bears elongated rusty tomentose panicles of greenish-white flowers in autumn, followed by attractive 3 winged purplish-red capsules. Hardy and easy in sun or semi-shade.
