Umbellularia californica Dwarf form

A naturally occurring dwarf form of the Headache Tree or California Bay, from the Serpentine soils of the Siskiyou Mountains of SW Oregon and NW California. These make dense rounded evergreen shrubs in nature and will only reach 3m maximum in cultivation on normal soils. Related to and culinarily similar to Bay, though different, and more powerful. Very drought tolerant and hardy in the UK. Extremely rare in cultivation here.
