Pretty much the polar opposite of what most people think of as a Veronicastrum. This trailing species from Southern China makes stems to perhaps 1.5m long though only 30cm high, clad in toothed ovate foliage and deep violet-blue late summer flowers where the leaves meet the stem. Evergreen in mild winters or deciduous, this tough low growing species is great spilling over retaining walls, in a raised pot or planter or even making its way around the edges of a woodland garden or shrubbery etc. Sun or semi-shade.
