Weigela middendorffiana

A truly tasteful Weigela of compact growth, with beautiful soft-yellow, bell-shaped blooms with yellow turning dark-orange markings on the lower lobes, seen in April/May. It enjoys a sheltered and semi-shaded site. Weigela are not usually my favourite plants on the whole, but this one is a beauty in flower. A small deciduous shrub with flaking bark from Japan and N. China, for most soils.
