Zelkova abelicea hybrid

Seed raised from a cultivated Z. abelicea where pollination from a number of other Zelkova is possible, this is clearly not pure Z. abelicea, but it does have a number of characters that mark that species out as distinct. The foliage is almost as small, though less hairy and with slightly more teeth. This should become a small tree only, though may eventually attain medium size, but it will be fully hardy, drought tolerant and tough. A new deciduous tree deserving of experimentation.
