Acer laevigatum var. salweenense

From N. Vietnam, this small semi-evergreen maple has long taper pointed, unlobed foliage that emerges a remarkable and splendid deep-maroon. Requiring a sheltered site in not overly cold areas, though it may prove much hardier than expected as so many things from this part of the world do. Very rare in cultivation.
