Acer shenkanense

Grown in specialist collections under the name A. cappadocicum subsp. sinicum var. tricaudatum for many years, this is the correct name for this elegant, hardy, rare Chinese maple. Fully hardy in the UK this normally makes a small tree with a rounded crown; the leaves with five drawn out lobes (the basal pair often much reduced) emerge variably red tinted, turning yellow or orange in autumn. For sun or semi-shade and any reasonable soil.
