Angelica ursina

A potentially huge perennial species from the Russian Far East and N. Japan, with rather splendid, much divided foliage. Given time, the 1 to 3m high, purple-stalked, branched inflorescence heads skyward, holding 'star-burst' umbels of white flowers in summer. For any ordinary soil, this very hardy species may give bigger inflorescences if not too dry. Used culinarily in the wild. Rarely offered.
