Begonia grandis subsp. evansiana ‘Claret Jug’

A form of this very hardy Chinese species with saturated deep-red backed leaves, some of which colour deepens the green above, making for a much more colourful plant. Usual mass of light-pink flowers in late summer. Height 45cm. Part shade or sun with shelter from wind. I've found this to be remarkably drought and sun tolerant here, even under extreme conditions, though looks even better in semi-shade.
