One of the finest of modern introductions, from the slopes of Zi Ben Shan, Yunnan, SW China at 3300m. The icy palest-blue new culm colour lasts extremely well; though almost equally good are the huge papery sheaths. Very tightly clump forming, non-running and very well behaved, with particularly strong upright growth to 5m, big thick culms and fairly large pointed leaves. Older culms arch out above. Truly magnificent.
