A small, rounded, hardy evergreen shrub from the Near East, very tolerant of shade and poor soil and is remarkably good on clay also, unlike many Daphne. Clusters of spidery, yellow-green flowers in April/May, deliciously fragrant in the evening. Similar in a way to our native D. laureola, but with broader leaves and better flowers. At its very best in semi-shade and leafy soil.
