Veratrum schindleri

One of, or arguably the most spectacular species of the genus, from Eastern and SE China, this can reach 2m in flower. Relatively narrow handsomely pleated foliage gives rise to a branched panicle of small very deep-red flowers in summer. The stem and branches are grey-white woolly. For sun or semi-shade, though requires even moisture.
