Rhododendron arboreum subsp. cinnamomeum

A high altitude form from the Eastern Himalaya with splendid richly coloured leaf undersides, being covered in a dense layer of cinnamon or rust coloured tomentum. The flowers are typically white, with coarse spotting, but can be pink or crimson, in full conical trusses, usually in March-April. Though fully hardy it requires sheltered woodland conditions and will slowly make a large shrub to even small tree over a very long period, being about 1.5m after ten years. Acid soil.

Pot size: 2L
