Viburnum furcatum

An aristocratic species from Japan and Taiwan, making a large, deciduous, hardy shrub with relatively level branching. White lacecaps in May, followed by red fruits, turning black. The broad, rounded, large, conspicuously veined foliage turns reddish-purple over a long period in late summer and potentially to a good red in autumn. Not for thin limey soils, unless grafted onto something suitable.
