Juniperus communis

A rare native conifer with a declining range in the UK, though is in fact the most widespread conifer in the world, occupying an extraordinary range of habitats from W North America across Eurasia to Japan. Most often a slow growing medium to large shrub here, though very old plants can sometimes make a small tree. Sometimes upright, sometimes spreading, but most prized for its 'berries'.
