Acer aff. pectinatum

A small upright tree of elegant form and excellent foliage, hailing from the highest peak in Indochina, Fan Si Pan, this was introduced originally, and incorrectly, as A. campbellii var. fansipanense. Particularly handsome in leaf with broad 3 to 5 lobed leaves on long thin vivid-red petioles, each lobe beautifully drawn out. These flush bronze in spring and assume shades of orange and gold in autumn. Best sited in a reasonably wind sheltered position, where it will be hardy throughout most of the UK.
