Acer rubescens

Sometimes known as A. morrisonense, this rarely offered snake bark maple from the mountains of Taiwan grows into a small, spreading tree with white-striped green bark. Attractive glossy foliage on particularly bright red petioles, usually shallowly five lobed with the terminal lobe much the longest, drawing out to a fine point and turning to orangey shades in autumn. Any ordinary soil.
