Aesculus pavia ‘Atrosanguinea’

A selected form of the N American Red Buckeye with more intensely coloured crimson flowers. An understory shrub in its wild habitat, this will reach large shrub to small tree size in a sunny location here where you'll find it very heat tolerant. The handsome foliage sets off the early summer flowers well and isn't affected by the problems associated with the common horse chestnut. Tolerant of a wide range of soils and fully hardy.
