One of the very largest of all Agave, very rare in cultivation (especially as most plants offered are incorrectly identified), forming alarmingly huge monster rosettes to 4m across and 2.5m high. A gargantuan beast from the cool, moist highlands of east central Mexico where I have seen it forming magnificent specimens in the wild. This certainly takes some frost as it is a naturally high altitude cloud forest dweller, but equally importantly it is moisture tolerant and has been grown to full size in Cornwall where it flowered recently at 7.5m tall after c.20 years.
