Alangium platanifolium

A handsome Eastern Asian deciduous small tree with maple like leaves and clusters of small but very beautiful flowers in June and July, like little white lilies with recurved petals and yellow stamen, dangling like little ballerinas from the undersides of the branches. Fruit are dark metallic-blue, seen in September. Rarely encountered but very hardy and easy. My specimen here has formed a low, spreading small tree over twenty years, to 5m high by 7m across.
