A hardy member of this very tropical looking genus, from China, N Vietnam and Thailand, bearing classic highly divided foliage to 60cm tall on flesh-pink washed stems, very heavily mottled and spotted with dark-green. The fascinating flowers are seen before the leaves and are composed of mottled stems holding cream coloured open spathes with a deep-red base and a fat creamy bulbous appendage inside. They smell of fresh carrots, as opposed to a rotting corpse, which is nice. For sun to part shade and best not too dry in summer.
