Arbutus x thuretiana

From the famous French garden of Villa Thuret, this beauty is a hybrid between A. canariensis and A. andrachne and virtually unheard of anywhere else. Comparatively large foliage and simply stunning, ultrasmooth red-brown bark that cracks and exfoliates in June to reveal a pistachio-green under surface. Apparently hardy to -10c. Any well drained soil.
