Asclepias speciosa

The showy milkweed from N America is a very important larval host and nectar source for Monarch butterflies, but as we rarely see one of those here you could either a) take your plant on holiday to the States, or b) enjoy it as a glaucous leaved perennial with large heads of fragrant lilac-pink flowers in summer on stems to about 1m high. Tolerant of dry sites.
