Betula albosinensis ‘Red Panda’

Yet another outstanding clone of this most desirable of birches, this time collected originally in Hubei Province, China. As usual the bark is difficult to describe, but the main base colour is a caramel-orange-red, much like a Red Panda, but there is also gold in there, with heavy horizontal lenticel banding throughout. Named by Jim Gardiner at Wisley.
