Betula nigra ‘Wakehurst’

The N. America River birch has striking exfoliating bark and this selection was made by Tony Schilling in 1990 from the collection at Wakehurst Place, being pink and brown and as shaggy as ever. Makes a medium sized hardy tree with soft green foliage, glaucous beneath.
