Lomariocycas magellanica (syn. Blechnum magellanicum)

A bold evergreen arborescent Chilean fern, with large glossy green fronds bearing slimmer pinnae than its cousin B. chilense, which it shares habitat with in the wild. Very old plants can have trunks up to 1.7m high in Chile. Hardier than B. chilense and suitable for most parts of the British Isles, especially if sheltered from cold dry winds etc.
