Boehmeria sp. From Kyushu

Found in Kyushu, S. Japan, a non-stinging nettle-relative, grown for its superb foliage. Large, rounded, bold leaves have a particularly bullate, textured surface with every vein markedly impressed and with a deeply serrated margin. Pipe-cleaner style tassle flowers in autumn. Fully herbaceous and likely to be very hardy, like many in the genus. Semi-shade, 120cm.
