Canna x ehemanii

The hardiest Canna and in my opinion the most beautiful, this survives many modern winters in many gardens, especially with a good deep mulch, much like Dahlias etc. Big clumps of exotic broad foliage and branching heads of dusky cerise (deep red-pink) flowers atop very leafy 2m+ stems in late summer. The big heavy flowers dangle somewhat in a most pleasing fashion. Sun and good soil, not too dry. If you are very cold just dig up in autumn and store frost free for winter in dry-ish compost.
