Carpinus kawakamii

Rarely cultivated but very elegant, this Chinese and Taiwanese species makes a small tree so far in the UK in the very few places that grow it, such as Hillier, Westonbirt and Kew. Relatively small pointed foliage flushes bronze when in growth and is very late to fall, often being rich green in midwinter. This collection originates from the mountains of Taiwan.
