Carpinus tschonoskii BBJMT 297

A Far Eastern hornbeam making a small to medium sized hardy tree in cultivation with potentially excellent bark qualities, being pale grey and marked all over with vertical darker 'stretch marks', and in older trees this can be superb. An elegant tree with simple features; the leaves are finely serrated and with conspicuous venation. Very hardy and tolerant of most sites ansd soils.
