Carpinus turczaninowii var. turczaninowii Farrer 331

These are propagations from the original 1914 Farrer introduction from China at Highdown, Sussex, where it has made a very beautiful rounded tree to 11m tall, the branches pendulous at their tips. Dainty small leaves on slender stems emerge red-tinted, turning orange and russet in autumn. An altogether elegant deciduous tree, this will remain relatively small for many years. Tough hardy and easy.
