Cephalaria ambrosioides

An endemic of the Balkan peninsula, this hardy tall and very drought tolerant species bears fully rounded heads of cream-yellow 'scabious' flowers in summer on branched, airy, almost leafless stems giving a rather transparent feel. Great for pollinators. The seed heads remain attractive into winter and are a favourite of certain bird species. Perfect for drought tolerant plantings in poor soils and excellent with dry climate grasses. Height to 2m+. Sun and well drained soil.
