Cercidiphyllum japonicum ‘Morioka Weeping’

Unlike the 'Pendula' weeping form of Katsura tree grown in the UK for some time, which struggles to make more than a low dome, this cultivar forms a good upright trunk with strongly weeping branches, making a medium sized tree. Beautiful rounded foliage and excellent yellow autumn colour with a sugary scent as the leaves fall and decompose. Previously known as C. magnificum f. pendulum. Suited to any soil that doesn't dry excessively and with a drying climate it would be best to plant in heavier, moisture retentive or generally reasonably moist soils.
