Cercis canadensis var. orbiculata

A South Western expression of a species with a huge native range, with grey-green, fairly rounded foliage. A small tree to about 5m with upright and spreading branches covered with a mass of bicoloured bright-pink and almost white pea flowers in spring, before or as the foliage emerges. Very drought tolerant. Full sun and any reasonably drained soil. Hardy. Virtually unknown in the UK.
