Cercis chingii

A virtually unknown, but easily grown, Chinese species. Particularly floriferous, with vivid purple-pink flowers covering the bare branches in spring, and apparently the earliest species to flower. This makes a small hardy tree for a sunny position. Closely related to C. chinensis, which it resembles in foliage.
