Grown both for its salmon-pink and white blossom in spring and for the very large, yellow, pear-shaped fragrant fruit, this large shrub from W. China will reach up to 3m x 3m if left unpruned. The fruit are the largest in the genus and make very good eating when cooked, often used in jellies and pies and very good combined with apples. A bowlful in the house is a scented delight. Tough and easy.
