Chionanthus retusus ‘Botanica’s Beauty’

A Belgian selection of the Chinese Fringe Tree, originally discovered flowering even as a seedling! Makes a large hardy deciduous shrub, or small tree after many years, grown for its massed display of filigree snow-white flowers in early summer, when the crown literally turns white. These flowers are followed by small plum shaped bloomy-black fruit. Very hardy and long lived. Suited to most soil types and a lover of heat in summer, this will be tolerant of a warming UK climate.
