Once considered a clone of C. armandii, but actually a hybrid of, this is a well known, rather magnificent evergreen climber with outsize, bold foliage composed of three big leathery leaflets which emerge bronze tinted. Clusters of large, fragrant, pink flushed white flowers borne from pink buds in April/May. Stems reach about 6m high if left alone, but can be cut hard back after flowering to keep the plant considerably smaller. Shoots appear very early but aren't usually affected by late frost and grow vigorously. Best on a sunny wall.
