Clematis flammula

A long cultivated species from S Europe, N Africa and SW Asia. Stems to 5m are clothed in attractive, bright green foliage with a cloud of sweetly fragrant, small white flowers borne from August to October, followed by silvery-silky seed heads. Pruning can be carried out in spring if desired, keeping the plants much smaller and more manageable, though its greatest glory will be seen from specimens allowed to climb over a large shrub, into a tree or along a fence etc etc. Drought and heat tolerant. These are derived from a collection from North Macedonia.
