A collection of this much loved evergreen flowering dogwood from Yunnan, SW China. Most ecotypes from China are much hardier than the old plants in UK cultivation derived from Himalayan origin. A small tree with four large conspicuous, softest cream-yellow bracts per flower, covering the branches in June, followed by a mass of pendulous red fruit in autumn. Grows on thin chalk at Highdown(!) though ios generally considered best on neutral to acid soils. Far more drought tolerant than C. kousa.
